Default Reading the water

How would you rate yourself on your ability to read the water and find trout? I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest I'm about a 6 or 7.

I am not that good in locating the trout yet. I think I am about 5. Usually I rely on other experienced anglers to find out which spot I have to fish on.

I am happy to say that with my experience I am now a 6 on this scale. I can gauge depths and find fish habitats easier now.

So, CastingOut and Papabear, you rate yourselves six (or seven) for this ability. By the way, what does six mean? Do you mean to say that among 10 predictions you made, 6 were right?

I'm getting better with each trip that I take. I can see where the waters are calmer than the rest of the water which means there's a greater chance of fish. I guess I'm about a 5 or 6.
