Default Winter trout fishing

It's boring being holed up in the house. Id like to go fishing next week. Any advice on strategies for winter trout fishing? Is there a need to change gears and nymphs?

The tips I've heard are pretty easy. Trout are slower and not as hungry in the winter (not as many insects to eat), so they say to slow down everything. Slow down the cast, pulling the fly or whatever you are using through the water. Use nice slow patterns and you should be able to catch something.
Good luck!
