Newbie syndrome

Is that the name?

So, you are sitting on the spot you choose in a popular fishery, among those experienced anglers who are busy with their own business. Though you can't even cast properly, you pretend to be as expert as them. After everything is ready, you awkwardly cast, expecting that nobody watches you and...ops! You hook your clothes.

Oh my! That's a horrible experience! Was everyone laughing or were they being polite and trying not to notice? I would have left after that I should think.

You should have asked for a guide who will teach you everything. Most fisheries have available guides to mentor newbies like us.

Yes, that's good advice from Kingfisher. Otherwise you can go with a friend who can tell you what to do and how to do when you are fishing. You also need to know some etiquettes applying in fishing.

Nobody is prefect. Newbies are prune to mistakes like the example above. The thing here is not to get nervous and remain always calm.

Best thing is PRACTICE casting before hitting water.

When I was new at this I never had problems similar to the one mentioned above. I was lucky enough to have a friend and neighbor who is I think the best angler in our part of the woods. he was the guy who taught me the basics and the advance courses.
