Lightbulb Saltwater and Freshwater equipment

I heard there's a difference in the equipment used in fresh water and salt water fishing. What's the difference and why?

To be honest, I'm guilty of using freshwater gear in saltwater. I simply rinse it all off really well when I'm done, but in reality, saltwater can wear on gear and equipment very quickly, especially since speeds up the rusting process on metals not meant for saltwater.

Saltwater fishing gears are made of materials that would stand erosion by the salt in the wind and the water. It can be used for freshwater fishing too.
