Default Japanese Style Fly Fishing

A friend of mine who is so good at fly fishing demonstrated to me how the Japanese way of fly fishing and was amaze on his dexterity because he made the whole process effortless. Japanese way is consists of just 3 parts that is the rod, line and the fly. Has anyone ever tried this style?

Without the reel, that will be very difficult indeed. But once you get the hang of things Japanese style of fly fishing won't be difficult. I guess consistant practice solves this difficulty.

I really started with the Japanese style of fishing.. It was back then when as a kid you do make your own fishing rod, without the reel. It was accidental that that was also the way the Japanese angle. However my rod was very crude not as long as the Japanese.
