Buying a boat

I am saving up to buy a boat. Well, it may take forever to actually get the boat :) Anyway, what to consider to purchase a fishing boat? Will I need different boats to fish on the lake, river or in the sea?

How big a boat are you thinking about getting? Some boats that are meant for lakes or rivers can be used on the ocean but might make the experience more diffucult.

I don't know, the cheapest one I guess. :) Mostly I fish on lakes and rivers, so I will go for the type of boat for fishing in those places.

Have you thought about buying a canoe or are do you really have your heart set on a boat? My father-in-law had a canoe and really enjoyed it when he went fishing. I didn't like it too much because they aren't as stable as a regular boat.

I never use a canoe for the reason you just mentioned. But it's a good option to consider also. About the instability of a canoe, is it that bad? I mean, does it make you not able to cast properly?
