Default What's your favourite bait?

For me maggots are my favourite bait, alternatively a juicy worm.

You can't beat a protein loaded hook.

Big fat juicy earthworms are the best bait for me. I have tried other baits like stale bread, caterpillars, and meat. But nothing beats worms, fish just love it.

By the way, glad to meet you Khalid.

Nice to have you on board Marky, and yes I agree trout can't resist a big fat worm wriggling away.

I agree with you both that worms are a delicacy for fish.

But for me, my favorite bait would be live minnows. Struggling minnows easily attract fish and get strikes.

I vary the bait, based on where I am. I do tend to stick to protein though, like you, Khalid. I've never tried minnows, Rommel-- that's an interesting technique. I never have problems getting strikes. I wonder how minnows will affect that.

For me it would either be a big fat juicy worm or if I can catch enough of them, live crickets. I think the crickets provide more action and attrack the fish but worms can do a great job, too.

I will be boring and go for fat juicy worms as well. Fish never hesitates to strike a fat juicy worm. Have you ever try leeches? They are a good alternative of worms. The only problem is its availability.
