Default River or lake trout?

I read that river and stream trout behave differently than lake trout, so we have to use different lures and casting techniques. According to your experience, which are easier to catch, river or lake trout?

I've been successful catching fish in lakes and rivers. For me a river is easier because I don't have a boat to get to the deep spots where the bigger fish are lurking.

I see. So based on the location, it is easier to fish on a river than to fish in a lake. What about the different fish behaviour in both places? Does it matter?
