Default Self-setting rod holder

Put the holder into the ground, place the rod into a slot so it's parallel to the ground. The fishing line (after casting) is run through a trigger and when the fish bite, the holder releases a spring, pops up the rod and hooks the fish. Isn't that a great idea?

I've never seen one of these before. Do you have a picture that you can share with us? It sounds like a great way to fish and relax. Takes all of the effort out of fishing.

LOL, now more tasks are automated including fishing. Does the rod holder have the sensitifity we have to decide when is the right time to hook the fish? That's a great idea though.

I was out fishing with my son one day when I saw some guys using these. It was interesting to see in action. The fish would take the bait and the rod holder would pop up the rod and set the hook.

Oh no this does not even sound like fun to me. I am a hands on fisher, not a put my rod in a contraption and let the fish catch themselves.
I've never seen them and I would love to see a picture.
