Default Fake Baits or Live Baits

I'm just wondering which is better to use, fake baits or live baits? If for example, two fishermen fish at the same stocked lake with the same exact gear but one fisherman uses fake baits and the other uses live baits. Who do you think will catch the most?

Live bait wins hands down. Trout want something they know and love, i.e. worms and maggots.

Whilst fake baits, such as powerbait, are good backups, they will never beat live alternatives.

Would you rather eat steak or fake steak?

I always use real live bait. It's messier, but what isn't messy about fishing and eating what you catch in the first place? I don't like to use fake baits. I agree with Khalid, the fish can tell.

Absolutlely agree with you Khalid and Captain. I think live bait is always best. You don't want to use something else-- live is tons better than fake.

I love how Khalid put it, do you want fake steak or real steak?

I do use both live (worms) and fake (lures). However, I prefer to use worms when fishing out on the lake. I think the fish are more attracted to the live worms (they wiggle in the water).

From my experience, live bait has always been more successful than fake bait. I love using worms or crickets. The times when I've fished with crickets, I've had some pretty strong hits, too.

I prefer to use live bait over anything when fishing. I have the best luck when using wiggly worms. I think the trout just like them better than lures or anything fake.

I believe the real bait will work better. Mind you, trout are not fools. They are really alert about their environment. They know the type of preys live in the area they live in, how their behavior, etc.

Hands down, live baits are better most of the time if not all the time against fake baits. There's no comparison here between the two baits.

No matter how some companies promote fake baits I still go for the real ones.
