Default Fish detectors

Just wondering if anyone here has ever used a fish detector and what kind of success you've had. Of course, that would mean that you also have a boat.

My uncle has purchased many over the years and swears by them but for me I am not too sure how they would work best. I tend to have a bad habit when it comes to gadgets myself and I do not currently have a boat of my own just yet.

Fish detectors do require a little bit of comfort with technology, but since my hubby and I have no issues there, we've found ours to be extremely helpful and have a hard time going on trips without one now!

Since I only have a float tube, I'll have to see if there's some kind of set up for those of us without a boat. I'm sure someone has figured out how to rig one up.

My buddy has one and it really helps a lot to find the fish. He always gets a good catch. I will get one when I get my own boat in the far future.
