Default Sliding sinkers

Anyone else use sliding sinkers when you fish? I like to use them because when the fish take the bait, the line runs through the sinker and offers no resistance until it's too late and I set the hook.

I've never tried that before. I usually go for the traditional rig where I have a sinker at the end of the line and a couple of hooks just above it. What kind of success have you had with a sliding sinker?
